Steinweiss Script began its journey towards daylight when Michael Doret was asked by Taschen Publishing to do cover lettering for the huge commemorative edition they were putting together on the work of Alex Steinweiss—“The Inventor of the Modern Album Cover”. The lettering was to be created to appear similar to the famous “Steinweiss Scrawl” the calligraphy that Steinweiss had used on countless album covers. While designing this piece of lettering, Michael realized that there was great potential for a font that was designed in the spirit of that famous “scrawl”. Through his contacts at Taschen Publishing, he was fortunate enough to be able to contact the Steinweiss family, and get the official Steinweiss approval to proceed with his “Steinweiss Script” project. Michael decided that in addition to giving the font his name as an homage, that he would donate a portion of the proceeds from the sale of this font to the man himself: Alex Steinweiss. Additionally, within each weight there are three variations: Simple, Fancy, and Titling. These variations relate to the size/ratio of the caps to the lowercase, the complexity of those caps, and the size of the ascenders/descenders on the lowercase characters. These variations add usefulness to the font, making it accessible not just for headlines, but for longer passages of text as well. ITC Deelirious is the first typeface of Dee Densmore-D'Amico and its name comes from the astounding number of D's packed into her name. The design came from her own handwriting. The differences between capital and lowercase letters are sometimes arbitrary, but this characteristic and the many alternate letterforms give ITC Deelirious the spontaneity and naturalness of true handwriting.

I only had this bouncy curve and a photograph of a daily menu (Truite Meunière) I took outside an obscure Paris restaurant when starting the design of this font. But while working on it I suddenly started thinking about Jacques Tati the famous but almost forgotten french director of Les Vacances de Monsieur Hulot, Jour des Fêtes, Mon Oncle, Playtime, Trafic etc. I thought about his bouncy walk and his hilarious ideas. The memories never left me while working on the font, so I decided to name the font after this great French moviemaker who gave me so many happy hours. The major focus of my life and ministry at this point is book design. In the brave new world of 21st century self-publishing a new paradigm has arisen: the indie small shop. One of the problems is that all books are published as ebooks, and many books are published only as ebooks. There are two problems with this: character availability and licensing. The licensing problem is solved by including an ebook license with all of the Librum E fonts. The character availability is the core of the design. OpenType features do not work yet with ePUBs [though it is in the spec, if I understand correctly]. Kerning doesn't work, and so on. So these five fonts have only the 256-character [or less] ASCII set. A separate small caps is included. It has lining figures {proportional} and small caps instead of the graphics. The other four fonts have graphics to give bullet choices in lists, oldstyle figures {proportional}, and care given to character shapes so they will work better without kerning. Chiripa is a casual, handcrafted, display font that gets a semi-random effect rotating between three different sets of characters (with Contextual Alternates on). Chiripa means luck in Spanish, but if you do not trust in your Chiripa you can turn Contextual Alternates off and change the glyphs switching between sets in the OpenType menu of your application or in the Glyphs list. Neonoir is an homage to neon lettering craftsmanship of the mid 20th century. The letterforms for this unique face were found on a luggage tag designed by the Richter Studio of Milan in the 1930s; the treatment was suggested by a recent Dutch ad for the opening of a service garage. The meeting of the twain results in a three-dimensional delight. Various transitional elements can be found in the ASCII tilde, {brace}, dagger and double-dagger positions. Both versions of the font contain characters to support all major European languages.

Kilo is not only almost exactly equal to the mass of one liter of water. It also flows like one. This font has edgy caps that certainly know how to keep it together at high velocities, and vowels that grin and salute you while speeding by. Primaria is a display font, inspired on the very first basic handwrite style teaching at primary school, designed in cursive and print styles in three weights each one: light, Regular and Bold, considering stylistic and typographic needs, it also contain OpenType initial lowercase alternative forms in order to get better links in those case where pairs of letters could be look better. MuskitoCaps is a Tuscan (split-serif) font that is rather narrow and a bit awkward. It is caps only, though the lower case differs from the upper case(the lower case lacks the mid-stem spike). The family has three styles, plain, shadowed, and shadowinside. The last has the same shapes as the plain style but has the spacing of the shadowed style so it can be layered with the shadowed style to easily produce bi-colored lettering.

Komorebi consists of handmade letters made with just a Stabilo pen. It is perfect for large scale texts and headlines. The family consists of three styles with both lower and upper case letters, accent characters and special characters. Though I personally recommend using all caps to give your words that bold touch, lower case works just as well!

Oblonga shows thin, elegant lines. The continuity of the trace is only suggested through the curves of the letters, a soft effect of bonding that maintains the identity of each character. Oblonga is an Art-Déco font proposed in a modern key, a revival performed without aggression. More than three hundred glyphs (regular and Italic) that ensure legibility in Central-European and Slavic languages, enriched by some appropriate discretionary ligatures that enhance the charme of a time gone away.

Philip Bouwsma's Symposium Pro is a wide Carolingian script that can be set simply or with a wide range of flourishes. It takes its inspiration from the scriptoria of the twelfth century, particularly in Spain, where Christians, Muslims and Jews lived harmoniously in a brilliant culture for two centuries. As manuscripts were translated and copied to meet the Western demand for classical texts, calligraphic elements from Arabic and Hebrew spread throughout Europe, sparking a proliferation of new styles that brought the simple book hand to a higher level. Symposium Pro spans a broad range of time and space, from the court of Charlemagne to the Arabian nights and Renaissance Florence. Symposium Pro comes in four weights, ranging from Light to Bold, with each font containing over 1200 glyphs. Variations on every letter form, from swashes to subtle alterations, are plenty, with some even having up to 40 alternates. Also plenty are the embedded ornaments and flourishes, over a hundred of them. Keep that glyph palette handy for many pleasant surprises and easy setting solutions.

A French lettering chapbook from the 1920s, entitled "Art du Tracé Rationnel de la Lettre," provided the inspiration for this decidedly Deco exercise in alternative letterforms. Both flavors of this font feature the 1252 Latin, 1250 Central European, 1254 Turkish and 1257 Baltic character sets.

The glyphs of AndrijScript typeface are based on usual calligrapher's handwriting, my own native Cyrillic. This strange mix of freedom and professionalism looks vivid but a bit elegant. In three very different weights it has some ligatures and contextual alternatives for more natural look. All you need is love, you know ;)

Inspired by Typoart’s Minima, Tablica which comes in three styles - Regular, Italic, Bold - fills ideally narrow columns, charts and tables. Since all numerals are monospaced, you can sum up all numbers of a table. Though this is a condensed sans serif family, it offers a high legibility even in small degrees.

A freestyle serif typeface, some details of its letterforms are modelled after flat-nib pen calligraphy (serifs with slanting ends, cutting terminals). Karty Solid is a freehand typeface that was inspired by John Baskerville’s designs. Karty Solid comes in three version: Regular, condensed and Expanded, including a large set of swashes, ligatures and stylistic alternatives, which bring the chance to create logotypes, originals headlines for fashion magazines, children books, advertising and much more.

Highlight is the work of British lettering designer Tony Watson, an airy, three-dimensional typeface based on a refined brush stroke style. Capitals can be used alone or in combination with the complementing lowercase and letters should be spaced closely. Highlight is ideal when a restrained, informal look is required.

Compton is a clean modern slab serif face that emphasises simplicity of line and legibility. It's offered in three weights: regular, bold and light. Compton brings the spirit of the 60s and 70s to the present day. It is ideal for clear, simple graphic design that makes an immediate impact.

A stylish cartoon sans reminiscent of lettering by Harvey Kurtzman on early issues of Mad, or other casual mid-century types. VLNL Beatbox is a solid tech heavy straight stencil-face with a lot of character. It was originally designed as a logo for dj Markus Schultz back in 2004, who rejected it. His management couldn't read it, or thought people wouldn’t be able to read it. But Chef Donald DBXL found the concept interesting enough to finish it and has used it in many projects since. It was the identity font for the Battle of Amsterdam, a talent showcase in beat boxing and other skills. Beatboxing is a style of hiphop music (beats) made with the mouth and a microphone. A box is a handy container to store stuff. Like food, or fonts. We use a lot of boxes at the VetteLetters office. VLNL Beatbox is best deployed big, like in logos or headlines. Or flyers, album covers, posters and signage. As a display and headline typeface it’s got a lot of character. We could definitely see it painted on the side of a tank, or an airplane. It’s heavy, but not at all dangerous. Use it without risk. VLNL Beatbox comes in two variations; Regular and Small (smallcaps)

Hermit was born like a modern and personal reinterpretation of Gothic-style alphabets, where improvisation and personal taste have led the design towards a new aesthetic mix between gothic and modern typefaces, creating new glyphs with tweaked strokes to achieve a good level of legibility. Hermit is a modern gothic font designed for brave designers and for epic designs, available in three weights and variable fonts. It is good to use for Branding and Editorial projects with texts not too small, Advertising, Packaging, Labeling, and Book or Magazine titles.

Four fonts entirely of decorative initials of which the uppercase basic letters of RMU Initials One are occupied by Walthari initials, the lowercase ones by Eckmann initials, both released first by Rudhard’sche Gießerei, Offenbach, Germany, about 1900. RMU Initials Two consists of Jubilaeumsinitialen in the uppercases and Augsburger Initialen in the lowercases. RMU Initials Three comes with floral ornaments, whereby the lowercase initials can be colorized by yourself due to non-joining elements. RMU Initials Four consists of hand drawn initials by Rudolf Koch and letters of a former Klingspor font called Queen.
