Hand drawn serif typeface designed for one of our books. You can use just the regular style or set the fill style over the stroke style to get a more colorful version. It has upper and lowercase characters with up to three alternate glyphs. Build in OpenType Contextual Alternates feature will automatically set alternate glyphs depending on frequency of appearance of the same character (even in web font but only in HTML5 browsers). The script doesn’t throw random glyphs (so it won't break the layered, two colored version). For example in the word “HIPPOPOTAMUS” you will automatically get three different “P” glyphs and two “O” glyphs. It really works great but of course you can always fine tune it by hand. Sunwind is not really made to write long copy. It is a font for shopsigns and short sentences that need that hot, sunny and windy touch. And that is how I got around to designing it: I saw some letters on a shopsign in Cannes when driving into town. I shouted at my son Julius: "Quick take a picture of that sign, the blue one." That's what he did, only he used the macro setting, so I had a very small sign but lots of nice background. Anyway I got the basic idea! Then I made a lot of sketches and this is what came out. I added a smallcaps set and I also made some initials as a rough version, so they look like written with a brush on heavygrain paper. Swinging that brush is yours truly Gert Wiescher

While helping produce a trade magazine years ago, I admired the hand-lettering of the art director -- a woman named Marydale -- and suggested she let me model a font after her penmanship. She agreed and drew out the alphabet, and I launched an old copy of Fontographer and (to shorten a long story) ended up developing my very first digital typeface. Which has since, astonishingly, become famous worldwide. So now the real Marydale gets the mixed blessing of seeing her handwriting (and name) plastered all over the planet. Full release has regular, bold, and black weights.

Edda Glaser’s digitized handwriting is a beautiful script containing many ligatures and alternates. The first lines were drawn in 2012 – however, there are now over 850 glyphs! Love Notes JNL is a total reworking of one of Jeff Levine's old freeware fonts. This revised version has an alphabet set jogged left and right in different upper and lower case variations. Playing around with the shift key will bring you the optimum results. On the left and right parenthesis keys are blank hearts logged left and right, and the corresponding fill fonts are on the bracket keys. (NOTE: You may have to do some manual adjustments, as the overlay placement can vary slightly in some programs.) There are numerals as well, and scattered around the keyboard are classic "message hearts" - just like in the boxes of candy. A backfill glyph for the numerals and message hearts is on the backslash key.
