PiPi is named after a happy Italian cat with a remarkable pattern, color and attitude. Designed by Andre Toet in 2011. Neroli is an oil distilled from the blossom of the bitter orange tree and used extensively in perfumery. Its scent is sweet, honeyed with green and spicy facets. The eponymous OpenType font is of tidy Art Deco construction and will lend its own unique bouquet to any typographic composition.

ITC Abaton, by Argentinian designer Luis Siquot, is an exercise in geometry and simplification. “It is done,” says Siquot, “with few elements, with modules of only straight lines (horizontals, verticals and diagonals of almost 45 degrees). Drawing the I and the O, I got the basic elements, and so started the fight between strict geometry and optical impression, until I obtained the rest of the characters.” The basic rectangular form is characterized by wedge-shaped serifs, almost like caps on the heads and feet of the letters. “Abaton has the 'spirit' of 19th-century faces used on money bills or postage stamps, but the realization is totally different,” Siquot explains. Abaton is a “shaded” typeface of caps and slightly smaller caps, upright and slightly condensed in form. Although the letterforms are legible at small sizes, the shading tends to clog up if it gets too small, so Abaton is happiest as a distinctive display face.

Colmena (means Beehive in Spanish) features soft viscous shapes and high contrast that resemble bees and honey. The font was entered into TypeArt Contest in 2005 under the name "FD_Harvey". Suitable for display purposes especially in books for children.

Geometric sans serif is one of my favorite fonts because it's so, simple, clean and modern, and a long time I've been dreaming of making this type, inspired by many media and especially "Futura, 1927" ( by Early Bauer) I created "Magnify" Geometric sans. Pina is a typefaced based on Italian signage, incorporating simplified shapes for the letters and unique characters. The barebones S and the perfectly circular O are examples of the type of lettering you'd likely see on awnings. These letters have a thin footprint, and are quite condensed apart from certain letters like O and Q, which gives the font a unique bounce. It includes plenty of alternates, to letters like O, S, Q, R, K, and special ligatures for specific pairs. This font is named after my grandmother from Italy, Josephine, who was a wonderful figure in my life.

A 1934 advertisement for the Roney Plaza Hotel at 23rd Street and Collins Avenue on Miami Beach yielded the inspiration for Tropical Tourist JNL. While this wonderful example of Art Deco lettering survived, sadly the original Roney was torn down around 1969 and replaced with a modern apartment house/condos bearing the same name.

Lunokhod type family (four weights) was designed by Oleg Karpinsky for ParaType in 2005. Lunokhod is an original wide sans serif with square shapes of oval glyphs. Several Cyrillic glyphs such as Í, Ó, ×, ã, ä, ò have alternate letterforms. For example capital H has two shapes: Latin one with diagonal central stroke and traditional Cyrillic with horisontal bar. Capital Ó and × have symmetrical and asymmetrical shapes. For use in display typography and for short text passages.

One day my kids asked me: ‘would you rather be healthy and poor or super rich and sick?’ Without a doubt I answered: ‘healthy and poor’. Having money is nice, but it is not what life is about. At least, that is what I believe. Radical Fortune is a font I made after a period in my life that could have ended with a really nice sum of money in my hands - but which I didn’t take. I had to give up too much of myself and that just didn’t feel right. I made Radical Fortune to keep me from thinking too much - and, symbolically, I used a really old and cheap marker pen to draw out the glyphs!

Baskerville Caps is a single font with two sets of large initial caps, the uppercase keys displaying a classical outline and the lowercase a floriate style. Both sets include the characters Å, Ä, Æ, É, Ö, Ø, Ü, Ç, Ñ and the OE ligature.

When I created Face Your Fears some years ago, it was an instant hit. I have seen it on Gangsta Rap albums, metal albums, books and on movie posters. It has been used for T-shirts, websites and, believe it or not, for a beer label as well. I have always toyed with the idea of redoing the original font, as some of the glyphs were a bit off. Face Your Fears II is similar in nature to the original font, but comes with a lot of improvements, has slightly altered glyphs and (probably) better kerning. But maybe, just maybe, it isn't your cup o' tea. In that case, you can always just go for the original!
