I was asked by a good friend of mine to design his tattoo lettering. This fellow prefered an easy stencil with no ornament, such as swirls or loops. I came across a photo of Al Capone and some of his henchmen when searching the internet for something completely unrelated. We don’t have a history of notorious gangsters in Holland, so I was intrigued by Capone all of my life. Packing Heat is 1930’s slang for ‘carrying a gun’, which I thought befitted this handmade font with an early 20th century look. Diablo Light was originally called Fabric and was issued by the Farmer, Little & Co. foundry in New York. We liked everything about this font except for the lowercase 'g'. So we changed the offending letter, but for purity kept the orginal as an alternate. We created a bold version of Diablo Light, with minor changes to accomodate the bolder stroke weight. Although the original design is over a century old, the style seems to have an up-to-date look.

Lisboa Tamil is a humanist sans-serif typeface based on the same design as the original Latin version (2005). Originally designed for small sizes, this font family can work as display typeface where there own calligraphic style gives elegant low contrast personality between organic and solid design approach. I like Ravens. In fact, I like them so much that I have a tattoo of a Haida raven! Ravenheart was more or less modelled on my Qilin font, but it is completely different.
