Wroxeter is Greater Albion Typefounders' customary Black Letter release for Christmas 2013. It's a typeface family for all times of year though, a good clear traditional black letter re-creation offered in a family of four typeface:- regular, wrought (a hand-tooled look a la Mr F Goudy), oblique and narrow forms. The tradition of typefounders' black letter revivals which don't over-burden themselves with historical precedent continues in this highly refined and polished family.

In this instance, a number of silk embroidered Art Deco initials inside inverted triangles inspired Deco Pennant Initials JNL. The uppercase version is white lettering on a black background – similar to the originals. On the lowercase keys is a set of initials that are black on white with a black border. Hub represents so called block letter handwriting style, which becomes more and more usual and nowadays replaces traditional cursive handwriting. One of the reasons for these changes is an often requirement in official forms to write in block letters. Some forms contain even stricter rule – to write in capital letters. Hub was designed to meet these requirements and includes small caps instead of lower case letters. It’s recommended for use in advertising and display typography and especially when you need to show a sample of properly filled bureaucratic form.

This is a fully connected script font, not calligraphic, but entirely designed to follow handwritten cursive ligatures rules as teached in schools. In order to correctly visualize it, you have to enable OpenType features (Contextual Alternates, Discretionary Ligatures, Standard Ligatues and Kerning). Trying to write All Capitals will generate Block Letters writings, since cursive style doesn't allow more than the first uppercase per word, however this font is not meant to be a Block Letters font. Kuroneko in Japanese means ‘ Black Cat’. I was working on a Japan itinerary for a friend and I told him about the luggage forwarding service by a company with a black cat in its logo. Wait: Black Cat? What’s that in Japanese? Cool name for a font! Kuroneko font will not forward your luggage, nor was it made in Japan. But it IS a very versatile font family - even if you’re more of a dog person.

Before the mid-to-late 1970s, when retailers started to embrace UPC (universal price code) technology on a grand scale, pricing merchandise took on many forms. One method especially popular with variety stores (such as Woolworth's, McCrory's, Kress, etc.) were pre-printed price tags that came in small pads and were inserted into metal holders. Shelf Tags JNL recreates a vintage price tag based on examples seen online, and allows the user different ways to create their own vintage-style price tags. You can either utilize the round pen nib style numbers and price marks to place on any size or type tag, or type out prices using the reversed characters (white on black) along with the two end caps provided to form a complete tag unit. For the more adventurous, a complete blank tag is also provided in case the desire is to print a solid color tag background and [using the regular numbers] crate prices in custom colors. Haarlem, designed by Leslie Cabarga, was inspired by the sort of marks you get when you write with a flat-headed magic harger. There are two fonts in the Haarlem family, White and Black. Haarlem White is an outlined, shadowed version of Haarlem Black.

It is not only coarse but extremly black, and it is quite right to name it Black Letter in English. Ernst Schneidler, the designer, created the smallest possible counters. Still, this very coarse black letter is sensitive in detail and drawn with a high level of aesthetics. By the way, it was said in Schneidler's design class in Stuttgart that his number one student Walter Brudi had cut some of the characters with �silhoutte scissors� from black paper. Sharing his ideas and work with his students does not at all decrease or lower his copyright.Ganz Grobe Gotisch is not only a distinguised but also a very catchy design.(Albert Kapr in Fraktur -- �Form und Geschichte der gebrochenen Schrift�.)

Newland is a blocky typeface inspired by Rudolf Koch’s calligraphic Neuland.

Wooden font block. Taken from the typesetting department at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw. All the letters were printed on paper, scanned and polished on the computer. It’s very detailed font, which are suitable for large prints.

The design is influenced by the geometric style sans serif faces which were popular during the 1920s and 30s. The JT Marnie font family is well suited for headlines and small blocks of text, particularly in advertising and packaging.

The second volume of the Robbins Music Corporation's "Hollywood Song Folio" features the word "Hollywood" lettered in a condensed block style with inline, strongly reminiscent of sports or college-themed typography. This was the inspiration for Winning Team JNL.

Tudor Perpendicular is Greater Albion's seasonal Black letter release (not that we rule out the possibility of non-seasonal ones...) for 2012. As the name suggests, it is a design which emphasises, and yes, exaggerates for effect, the perpendicular up and down nature of Black Letter typefaces. There's no particular historical basis for this one - straight out of our own minds, just as a lot of Black letter 'revivals' have been over the years. Come and visit 'Ye Olde' world today...

Lard Pro Regular is an extreme contrasted extra black typeface designed for usage at larger sizes. Lard Pro Bold is an extra black typeface designed for usage at larger sizes. They contain extended Latin, Cyrillic and Greek alphabets to support a very wide range of languages.

Majora Pro is a slab serif typeface which derives its name from a Portuguese historical toy manufacturer. The font comes in 8 styles, ranging from a delicate Thin to a robust Black, with matching italics and an upright version of stencil fonts, resulting in a total of 24 weights. Many decades back, churches, schools and other buildings with a need to display an outdoor message often chose a sign making system utilizing characters silk screened onto metal pieces in a block chamfer style. Each piece had a crimp in the top of the metal which formed a hook to fit over the existing rails of a message panel. This allowed for a finished sign to be displayed within minutes, and a quick change of information was not very time-consuming. A popular version of these signs provided white letters and numbers on black backgrounds. This was the model for Announcement Board JNL, which is available in both regular and oblique versions. There are two different width blank panels on the broken and solid bars for those who wish to kern the letters tight to form a ribbon, however they were designed to have slight spacing in order to emulate the hand assembly of those vintage sign panels.
