Whereas blackletter types were hand written, Text letterforms are drawn using a series of graphic shapes that slot together in a series of permutations, one set for lower case and another for the upper case. As the link between the method of construction of the letterforms has been removed from the appearance (the quill pen with which they were written resulting in the angle and sharp stresses) there is no logic for these stylistic elements to work in any set way. As this fundamental rule of the blackletter style has been removed the typeface has become something other than a typical or derivative blackletter font.

Many of my typefaces like Narziss and Mommie and also NewLibris or Verse are rather feminine. With Motora Sans I wanted to be the opposite. Masculine with a smell of gasoline and sweat. Old Labels JNL was inspired by the red and white gummed labels that were used for shipping parcels long before self-adhesive materials and desktop publishing rendered the older labels obsolete. The fifty-two glyphs include a generous supply of phrases such as ‘Air Mail’, ‘Do Not Bend’, ‘Rush’, etc. along with a number of blank label backgrounds and decorative frames. Lalola (whose early version was released as ‘Lola’ by the spanish foundry Type-Ø-Tones in 1997) is a display typeface with strong attitude. It was inspired by a lettering model by Eugen Nerdinger and Lisa Beck. From a few letters of that model, Lalola became an original design and a single font, comprising all the necessary characters for languages based on the Latin alphabet. You can ‘say it loud’ with Lalola, either in lower or uppercase, yet with wit and a unique, distinctive friendly voice. “It looks like it could have been designed last year,” says Toshi Omagari, the lead designer for The Wolpe Collection, about the original Tempest typeface. Rough and ready, bold and urgent. Or playful and fun in bright colours. The original letters were cut from actual potatoes, then scanned in and converted to vector outlines. Lighter and more heavily inked versions were used for the three variants. Using Opentype character-substitution technology, Salvation rotates through three versions of each letter to create a naturally uneven printed effect. Unlike hot metal type, the potatoes were cut the right way around. This produced reversed prints, which were then flipped back in Photoshop. Originally produced for Hughes' Get Lettering activity book, the font was then extended to cover numbers, punctuation and full European language support.

There are a lot of narrow passages... like the Straits of Gibraltar, Hormuz, of Malacca, of Thermopylae, the Dardanelles, the Dervenakion, Magellan, Rentina of Naruto, Kerch etc. I tried to pass into mine closely with the name «Artios Pro". Walking on the same considerations as the previous series (Khamai/Aeolus/Corset) I tried to give some sense of diversity for narrow passages of the letters. These twelve style are the result. And here, the "Rail" engage with "Semi Bold" in the same way as the previous series. This series is composed and includes 12 fonts with 625 glyphs each, with true italics and supports Latin, Greek and Cyrillic.

Árida pays homage to the Argentinian city of San Juan, located in the semi-desert Cuyo region, where cacti are abundant; a characteristic feature of arid habitats. Árida, inspired by the vegetation of the place, looks sharp and aggressive at large sizes but it also feels friendly at a smaller scale⁠—portraying the dichotomy between humans and nature. Árida comes in 5 weights, ranging from Regular (with a matching italic) to Black. The Regular variant contains 773 glyphs and its Italic counterpart is composed of 939 glyphs. The font also includes small caps, different styles of figures, ligatures, and stylistic and contextual alternates, among other OpenType features.

Named after the strong cold winds on Southern France, the Mistral font family is another original creation displaying the panache of the French graphic artist Roger Excoffon. Mistral is an informal script in which all letters link up in vigorous strokes. First issued in 1953, its brush-like stems look spontaneous and fresh. The descenders are fairly long and the whole alphabet has a distinctive and unforgettable effect on the page. Mistral is a good complement to sans serif typefaces. Mistral is a trademark of Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG, which may be registered in certain jurisdictions, exclusively licensed through Linotype Library GmbH, a wholly owned subsidiary of Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG.

IMPuzzled uses the OpenType feature of Contextual Alternatives to alternate two sets of characters. The sets are on two puzzle pieces that tessellate, that is, fit together to fill the plane with no gaps or overlaps. Empty pieces are on the brace keys and can be used to fill spaces. The black or solid style is designed to be used in a layer under the regular style, though it can be used alone if adjacent pieces are given different colors. This unusual font has limited uses but may be appropriate when the topic is related to the broad areas of puzzles, puzzled, and fitting pieces together.

Worthing aims to combine Victorian charm with modern-day requirements for legibility and clarity, and we hope, demonstrates that traditional elegance still has its place in the modern world. Meanwhile, for those who are curious about the naming of our fonts, Mr Lloyd our designer was reading Mr Wells (H. G.) War of the Worlds recently. No doubt some of you will remember the part that Worthing in Sussex played in that story. Worthing is offered in three styles: regular, alternate and shaded. It's ideal for Victorian and Edwardian era inspired design work, posters and signage, as well as for book covers, chapter headings and so forth.

I used to live in the English Lake District, where I worked in an outdoor gear store. I bought a bright red mountain bike and each day, after work, I cycled up the mountain and hurtled down - heavy metal blasting from my MP3 player. Of course, the bike was a regular MTB, so it got some serious damage after a while, but the adrenaline rush was great! Downhill Dive is a great brush font (made with actual brushes and ink on paper - no tablets involved here!). It is an ode to that wonderful time spent in England. Downhill Dive comes with some really nice ligatures.

I started to work at the Bernhard Studio in 1952 to 1959 in New York. I helped with some type designs and many other projects, this two tiered signature was added on all of Bernhard’s art that was produced in the past and in his later years. In the 50’s I thought Bernhard’s Gothic face was quite a bit outdated but as you may know it has become one of todays most used faces. His signature is based on his Bernhard Gothic Font. With todays computer technology I have digitized the caps and added lower case glyphs with lower ascenders and other slight changes.

Emil Bertell's Bayamo is a contemporary, digital take on the brush script tradition. Streeters is a hand brush typeface, created for a specific project, where one of the assumptions in creating it was to combine the appearance of a manual brush, liquid paint but also a spatial effect. Uppercase and lowercase letters create a slightly different effect with the same character height. They are created in such a way that, in addition to writing with one letter case, it is also possible to mix and create many different combinations of uppercase and lowercase characters, for example, a unique look for the same repetitive words.
