  3. Rue Display by Winnie Tan, $29.00
Rue is an organic, casually ornamental, narrow-faced sans serif. It is a display type structured with random traces of calligraphic tendencies. It does not begin with any noble ideals, other than to mediate between the muse of imagination and the act of realization. The spirited and exploratory design is the materialization of a feeling about fonts as a family of organisms taking on a life of its own, in work and play. Rue is the epitome of vanity and indulgence which seems to purpose itself well in aesthetics, wellness and botanicals. Its whimsical quality also suggests applications in the form of gifts and ornamentation. In retrospect, Rue was conceived as a typeface, used as an image and discovered as an ornament. It comes in 5 weights of light, regular, medium, semibold and bold, and their matching italics. Rue Display was published in 2010 by TypeTogether. http://www.behance.net/gallery/Rue/373854
  4. Linotype Sicula by Linotype, $29.99
Linotype Sicula, from German designer Roberto Manella, is part of the TakeType Library, chosen from the entries of the Linotype-sponsored International Digital Type Design Contest 1999 for inclusion on the TakeType 3 CD. It is available in two weights, regular and oblique. Linotype Sicula will quickly win over any nostalgic spirits. Ornamental and sweeping, the figures line up on the paper, their contrasting strokes and playfully irregular forms giving them an exuberant, decorative character. The careful details of each figure come to light best when used in larger point sizes. Linotype Sicula is therefore best for headlines and can easily inspire typographic experiments and its capitals can serve as initials combined with other typefaces, especially sans serif.
  5. Augsburger2009 by Proportional Lime, $24.95
This typeface was inspired strongly by one of Ernhardt Ratdolt’s (1442-1528?) many beautiful typefaces. Mr. Ratdolt was a printer from the city of Augsburg, who had also worked for several years as a printer in Venice. He made many advances in printing technique and technology, including the decorated title page. Early books have a mysterious rhythm to the appearance of the text, due to small variances in letters caused by casting irregularities and ink transfer from the press. This supposed defect, which is present in this typeface, gives a pleasing effect when compared to the sterile regularity of modern printing technology. This font has been released as version 2.0 with over two hundred additional characters and improved metrics.
  6. Audacious by Monotype, $40.00
Audacious is a quirky, confident and adorable serif type family across five weights in both text and display styles. This attention-grabbing retro typeface has an imperfect nature that embraces its quirks and irregularities, giving each font a distinctive and somewhat oddball personality. Its defining characteristics include large open counters, awkward stresses, large exaggerated wedge serifs, and voluptuous teardrop terminals. Whatever typographic compositions you create, Audacious will demand attention, making it perfect for titling, headlines, logotype, and branding projects. Take advantage of the 182 stylistic alternates to embellish your type and add that touch of class to titles and logos. Display weights work really well with close line spacing and stunning headlines are a breeze to create. Text weights make for a pleasant reading experience while packing all the punch and versatility found in the display variants. There are 20 fonts altogether, in Text and Display styles with weights from Regular to Black in both roman and italic. Audacious has an extensive character set that covers all Latin European languages. 7. Arabesque by Scholtz Fonts, $15.00
Arabesque is a romantic, ornamental font, in which intertwining, flowing lines and generous loops enhance the beauty of the basic shapes. Arabesque successfully combines legibility with a decorative, sumptuous style. In its European interpretation it was also called "Moresque". The font "Ability" was the origin of Arabesque, however, numerous, subtle changes set it apart. Arabesque, is characterised by a small x-height and relatively large ascenders and descenders (loops). The loops are created out of two or three delicate, intertwined lines that contrast with the much less expansive bowls and shapes of the lowercase letters. The capitals, more complex and composed of intertwined lines, echo the elegance of the loops on the lowercase letters. As a result of these changes "Arabesque" is both more readable, controlled and extravagant than "Ability". Suggestions for use: - wedding stationery - greeting cards - valentines day media - beauty products media - lingerie tags - women's magazine pages - classical music media - award certificates - magazine pages The font is fully professional: carefully letterspaced and kerned. It contains over 235 characters - (upper and lower case characters, punctuation, numerals, symbols and accented characters are present). It has all the accented characters used in the major European languages. Arabesque works well in Application packages such as Microsoft Word that do not support professional kerning.
