Eckhardt Poster Board JNL further continues Jeff Levine's series of sign painter-oriented fonts, named in honor of his good friend Albert Eckhardt, Jr. (who ran Allied signs in Miami, Florida from 1959 until his passing). The typeface is a casual brush style, modeled from an image of a do-it-yourself sign making kit comprised of stencils, paint and brush spotted for sale through an online auction.

Lansere is an art-deco typeface inspired by lettering of Russian graphic artist, painter and sculptor Evgeniy Lansere (1875–1946). Cursive Script is a digital handwriting font. It is slightly different from many other handwriting fonts as it is designed to be regular and highly legible. As such it is clearly a digital font, inspired and informed by natural handwriting rather than attempting to emulate it. It contains 697 glyphs, mostly lower case alternates to ensure natural, flowing script. It also has stylistic alternates for many lower case letters, particularly those with ascenders and descenders.

Lowndes is designed as a Blackletter display face with a spirit of fun rather than historical accuracy, and with an emphasis on legibility and clarity. It's ideal for festive design such as cards, posters etc... Have fun!

The Barnhart Bros. & Spindler foundry put out a caps-only face called Dante. We liked it, but felt it needed a lowercase. The result here is a rather nice square design, which has become a personal favorite.

A wooden face, rather prosaically named Gothic Bold, from Hamilton's 1889 specimen book provided the pattern for this bold and brassy face. Both versions support the Latin 1252, Central European 1250, Turkish 1254 and Baltic 1257 codepages.

Created following personal preferences, Stimulus gathers some styling elements of some of my favorite sans-serif typefaces. It was designed with the intention of being a slightly narrow, high x-height, clean-looking typeface for general purposes.

The award-winning Scala family (1990-1993) is a worldwide bestseller and has established itself as a ‘classic’ among digital fonts. It was one of the first serious digital text fonts to support small caps, ligatures and different set of numbers. In fact Scala and Scala Sans (1990-1993) are two workhorse-like typefaces sharing a common form principle: the skeletons of both Scala and Scala Sans are identical, therefore they can be combined perfectly. Where many of the modern sans serifs (like Helvetica and Univers) have rather ‘closed’ letter shapes, the same elements in Scala Sans are much more ‘open’. This greatly improves legibility, especially in the smaller point sizes. The italic of Scala Sans is not a slanted version of the roman, but rather a ‘real’ italic. Another part of Scala is very popular among its users: Scala Hands, containing more than one hundred decorative hands and pointers, is included in the Scala fonts and is a free bonus.

Black Bamboo is a beautiful plant. My father in law, who recently passed away, loved it and had a prized specimen growing in his garden. This font was named in his honour. Black Bamboo font is a bold typeface, created using a good brush and quality paint. It is all caps, but upper and lower case differ and can be freely interchanged. Of course, Black Bamboo comes with all diacritics.

Pusekatt means Pussycat in Norwegian. It was finished on a rather gloomy monday, which reminded me of Norway and I just like cats. There you have it: the naming of fonts explained. It ain't rocket science for sure! There is nothing gloomy about Pusekatt font: it is a very lively, happy and useful poster face. It comes with extensive language support, one alternative (yes, one) and a lot of feline grace.

The Theo Ballmer font family is based on Theo’s design ideas which were completed by his son Theo Ballmer (Thierry’s father), and digitized by Thierry, with the help of URW++ and their Ikarus technology. Theo Ballmer is available in 3 x 5 variants: condensed, regular, expanded each in 5 weights. Theo Ballmer is a masterpiece, which fills a historical gap and provides a real font family from the Bauhaus era.

The Ray Johnson font was inspired by the Father of Mail Art. It's based on the block lettering style used by Ray to add the names of his correspondents to their bunny head portraits (the film How to Draw a Bunny is a superb introduction). The font includes blank bunny heads and other Ray Johnson graphics as scalable vector images, and separate bitmap images are also provided as jpegs and gifs.

The Tough Dude font is a confident, devil-may-care, tough-guy font with attitude that screams "I don't need no stinkin' penmanship." Herzchen is a well developed sans serif font. The curving and swinging letter forms remind a little of serif fonts, on closer inspection, however, they rather remind of upright italics. Playful details give charm to the typeface and make Herzchen lively and distinctive. With four cuts the typeface is suitable for simple corporate and editorial design projects. A revival of “Gras Vibert”, a French fat face originally cast by the Didot typefoundry in Paris. It was cut in 1840 by Vibert, an engraver employed by the foundry. The capitals are heavier than the lowercase letters, and the characters g, k, y and & are rather peculiarly shaped, exaggerating the vertical stress. The font is designed for large sizes.

Toyprint JNL is based on scanned print samples of a toy rubber stamp set imported from Japan circa the 1930s. No kerning and a very limited character set, but fun and nostalgic nonetheless. NOTE: Large size rendering of the type will give the appearance of cut paper rather than rubber stamp impressions due to the nature of the scans for this font.

An offering from Barnhart Brothers & Spindler’s Catalog No. 9 from 1907, with the rather prosaic name of "Lining Gothic No. 71", inspired this non-nonsense and surprisingly ageless face. As versatile as it is simple, this typeface is a stylish choice for heads and subheads. Both versions of the font include 1252 Latin, 1250 CE (with localization for Romanian and Moldovan).

That’s what people call ‘an experimental typeface’. Yes it is! It consists in letterforms designed in very strict geometrical parameters. I was not thinking about ‘reading’ when I’ve drawn this typeface — rather on different way of projecting our mental image of the words. Do not try to set a book with this type, please! One single version, one single font designed in 2000.

Counting four variations for each letter and two for the numbers, Felt Noisy delivers a cool organic feel with a strong and spontaneous ​​ attitude. The typeface was drawn with a bad felt tip pen​ and resulted in two rather nice fonts that will stylishly fit many visual projects out there that don't look for any transparency at all. I designed this font a few years ago to address a direct problem. My work demanded small paragraphs of text to be screenprinted in a varsity font style. The house varsity was rather uneven and created small blobs of ink at sharp angles when printed. I designed Beau's Varsity to address both of these problems. The new font eliminated the blobbing, and I like to think my original design is a step up in evenness from the other options.

The 1938 movie musical "Carefree" starring Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers featured the song "Change Partners" by Irving Berlin. A copy of the sheet music for this song had the title hand lettered in a wonderful tri-line design that has been recreated in the digital typeface Fancy Dancing JNL.

Moyenage is a modern replica of blackletter. Whereas the calligraphic typeface family can be used in shorter texts and posters, the sans-serif variation is rather experimental project which may find its use on music cover design, occasional lettering and invitations.

SpeedSwash is a stylised oblique script-fraktur hybrid. That description could should bizarre - lets face it, it does - but the result is actually rather splendid we think. Lovely for poster work where a sense of life and motion is required.
