The design idea for this condensed sans serif stencil font was inspired by a post-World War II brass stencil spotted in an online auction. The United States was assisting Europe with much-needed goods, and the text in the middle of a “stars and stripes” shield used for marking the shipping containers read “For European Recovery supplied by the United States of America”. It was the first line (“For European Recovery”) that became the working model for Supplier Stencil JNL, which is available in both regular and oblique versions.

Litera was designed in 1983 by Michael Neugebauer, who used the same strict constructed design found in his typeface Circulus. ITC Binary was designed by Mauricio Reyes in 1997 as a semiserif font with a pronounced stroke contrast. A distinguishing characteristic of this font is that many of the lower case letters seem to be missing a small piece of their forms, either at the base line or x-height. We have created this family from the numerous derivatives in use for newspapers since the middle of the 1800s to the 1970s, inspired by the well known Clarendon. Mainly, the patterns are those used to print Le Petit Journal, a popular French Newspaper of the era (published from 1863 to 1937). The present version contains Normal, Italic, Bold and Bold Italic styles, in two sub families: 1906 French News for texts and titlings with upper and lower case, and 1906 French News Caps (Caps, small caps, small numerals, for texts and titlings).

ITC Florinda was designed by Luis Siquot in 1997 and consists exclusively of capital letters. The basic forms were influenced by old favorites like Franklin Gothic, but Siquot ornamented the classic forms with symmetrical knobs which look like pieces of lead left over after pouring the forms. This gives the figures a playful, constructed look. When used in a text, the horizontal lines seem to come together to draw a fine line through the middle of the lines of text, giving it an ornamented character. ITC Florinda should be used exclusively for headlines or display.

Linotype Pide Nashi is part of the Take Type Library, chosen from the entries of the Linotype-sponsored International Digital Type Design Contests of 1994 and 1997. German artist Verena Gerlach created a typeface which looks almost like Arabic at the first glance, only with the second do the familiar forms become clear. Rounded lower case letters, generous, sweeping capitals and diamond-shaped ornaments give the font its Arabic feel. Kröwn is a ruthless display font family. It is presented in three styles that can be used stacked to create beveling and dimensional effects. Kröwn’s most distinctive feature is the absence of counter shapes, or at least its minimum impact. All counter shapes width is the same as the separation between characters, this creates a blocky, strong and hardcore rhythm. Use it with precaution to build strong titling, powerful logotypes or short letterings. With Kröwn, the less is more, the bigger the better. Its visual style draws inspiration from sword and sorcery fantasy genre and historical periods as the middle age.

Modulario is a geometric sans with some disturbingly individual features. A few capitals owe a bit too much to Roman proportions. This text font is available in six weights from light to black and was designed by Gustav A. Grinberg. An outstanding characteristic of the font is its light stroke contrast and its constructed forms. Its tiny, triangular serifs first become noticeable in very large typesizes, much like the Dutch fonts of the 17th century, Copperplate, for example. Gothamburg is a blackletter or square gothic face. The shapes of many of the letters were inspired by sets of letters in Oscar Ogg’s The 26 Letters (Thomas Y. Charter was designed in the mid-1980s by Matthew Carter. The typeface was designed with the limitations of low- and middle-resolution output devices in mind; hence the squared off serifs and the economy of diagonals and curves. HU Handserif KR contains KOREAN words and Latin alphabets. HU Handserif KR expresses the heart written down by hand in a font. Since there are no curved serifs, it is a handwritten typeface that is easy for children to follow correctly. It was produced using the order of strokes so that Hangeul can be written in the correct order, and the shape and size of the initial consonants, middle consonants, and final consonants were produced correctly. It also has an honest and correct form based on the basic principles of letters and the structure according to the form.

Roughcast is a kind of outside plaster, composed of cement and pebbles. It’s not the best looking plaster and it is estimated that in the UK, a roughcast outer reduces the value of a house by 5%. I am in the middle of renovating our old farm, but I won’t cover it in roughcast! Roughcast font is actually quite an attractive brush font. I made it with a brush I found hiding underneath my stove (where it had been for a while). I cleaned it and used it to make a couple of fonts, including Roughcast. Roughcast is best used for packaging, book covers and posters.

The name Angryhog came out of nowhere out of free association. "When you're working on a typeface on the Mac it demands a name from you which I find a bit confrontational" says Donaldson.
