Basile is the conclusion of a process that began with the learning of italic handwriting in a roballos-Naab studio course. In this workshop I developed a variation of chancery handwriting which had a more pronounced wider than its historical model. While making the digitalization, the forms were modified to obtain a similar spirit to the one in the handwriting, but thinking about the text in small sizes. Also incorporating three sets of forms enlarged the family: italic, swash and extra swash. And the addition of initials and terminals sets.

A mix between tradition and innovation, Basil is a unique humanist slab serif well suitable for broad range of design projects - editorial, logotype, poster, etc. With its tall x-height and generous internal spaces, the type family was especially designed with legibility in mind and is well suitable for body text at small sizes. As the name suggests, Basik is a simple, clean and versatile sans-serif typeface designed by Superfried. It is equally apt in both body and display scenarios. There are already numerous san-serif fonts available which is why we have tried to create some unique styles and cuts throughout the typeface. Basik has been featured on the Behance curated typography gallery TypographyServed.com. It is available in two styles, book and stencil.

In the years 1937 and 1938 Paul Renner drew these both styles of the Ballade font family. Now freshly redesigned and extented for contemporary use, both styles have reappeared. These fonts contain the historical long s, which can be reached by typing the integral sign [ ∫ ] or by turning the round s into the long s via using the OT feature historical forms. It is also recommended to activate the OT feature discretionary ligatures.
