An ebay purchase of a vintage Speedball lettering pen set yielded an extra bonus… numerous alphabets on paper rendered in both pen and ink and via pencil sketches. One such design in rough pencil layout is a classic serif typeface often found on many passenger and freight trains, trolley cars and busses. This “Railroad Roman” was scanned from the original sketches and then re-drawn digitally, all along retaining the charm and attractiveness often found in hand lettering. The end result is Streetcar JNL, which is available in both regular and oblique versions.

This font is drawn by hand with a pen following proportions based on the numbers of Perrin applied completely to the capital letter H and from this letter all the proportions of the rest of the alphabet are calculated according to mathematical formulas that I have been perfecting and putting into practice in my last fonts, is ideal for designing greeting cards or weddings, posters, flashy headlines or small texts.

Architype Konstrukt is a collection of avant-garde typefaces deriving mainly from the work of artists/designers of the inter-war years, whose ideals have helped to shape the design philosophies of the modernist movement in Europe. Due to their experimental nature character sets may be limited. Architype Albers draws on early grid-based attempts by Josef Albers, in 1926, to design an alphabet by reducing the forms to purely geometric elements – the square, triangle and parts of a circle – and in the process creating an unusual stencil effect typeface.

The source of inspiration for Voyeur Monogram is the 1934 "Book of American Types" by American Type Founders. Found in that specimen book was a charmingly sophisticated diagonal monogram alphabet known as “Broadway Monogram Initials”. Fette Deutsche Schrift also known as Koch-Fraktur or Kochschrift was created by Rudolf Koch for Klingspor foundry between 1908 and 1910. The basis of this font is a publication in the magazine “Das Plakat” of September 1921. The font contains swash capitals to use as dropcaps, contextual alternates, glyphs for line endings, ligatures, discretional ligatures for use in German, ornaments and other OpenType features.
